Reflect & Reset

Reflect & Reset

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts."
—Psalm 139:23

We prepare meals with intention. We move our bodies with grace. We also make choices rooted in faith. After these actions, we arrive at one of the most overlooked—but most powerful—parts of holy living: reflection.

The world tells us to rush on to the next task. God whispers, "Pause and look back with Me."

Reflection is not about perfection—it's about learning to hear God in the ordinary moments.
And sometimes, the most faithful step we can take is to stop, listen, and reset.

Why We Reflect

In holistic Christian living, reflection serves as the bridge between action and transformation.

  • It helps us recognize what God is cultivating in our hearts.
  • It gives us space to release guilt, regret, and striving.
  • It reminds us that we are growing—one moment of obedience at a time.

“Let us examine our ways and test them and let us return to the Lord.” —Lamentations 3:40

Reset with Grace, Not Guilt

There will be days when you overeat, skip quiet time, feel overwhelmed, or forget to move with intention.

That doesn't mean you've failed. It means you're human.

The gift of grace is this:  You get to start again.

Not because you've earned it. But because He invites you.

So, take a breath.
Lay it down.
Ask, "What is God teaching me here?"
Then step ahead—not in shame, but in strength.

Simple Ways to Reflect & Reset

Daily:

  • Ask: What did I learn about God—or myself—today?
  • Note one moment where you felt joy, peace, or closeness to the Lord.
  • Write down what you're thankful for, even if the day was messy.

Weekly:

  • Light a candle, brew a cup of tea, and sit quietly with your journal.
  • Ask: Where did I see God's hand in my home, my body, my thoughts?
  • Celebrate the small steps ahead—those are holy too.

Monthly Reset:

  • Declutter one space.
  • Recommit to a habit with a fresh perspective.
  • Choose a new Scripture to show or memorize for the coming month.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for walking with me through every moment, joyful or challenging. Please show me what you're teaching me in the little things. Help me pause, reset, and return to You with a whole heart. Let my reflection be an invitation, not a burden. Teach me to see my progress through your eyes.
